The name Jill Newman rings when it comes to producing some of the hottest shows around town. However, these are not your ordinary shows–these are productions with some of this generations most revered artists.
The Highline Ballroom in New York is the home for the next series of events which kicked off with ecclectic soul singer BILAL on Friday August 15th. Next up, esteemed drummer CHRIS DAVE who is joined by MOS DEF and friends (August 19th).

Chris Dave
Chris Dave is classified as one of the drum world’s best having played with artists as diverse as Dolly Parton and Wynton Marsalis to Jill Scott and A Tribe Called Quest.
Following 2 successful concerts at New York City’s Jazz Festival at Carnegie Hall and the New York Society for Ethical Culture, Jill Newman Productions presents a diverse line up of exciting music including Youssou N’Dour, Lillias White and more!
I had a chance to chat with the cool drummer about his show and what we can expect when Chris Dave and friends converge on the city!
How does a drummer become popular enough to have shows with people like Mos Def and Wynton Marsalis?
Chris Dave: They say I’m amazing…some kind of pioneer…innovative.
Do you think you’re amazing?
Chris Dave: (Laughs)…I’m a work in progress.
Have you always wanted to be a drummer?
Chris Dave: I’ve been wanting to play the drums since I was a kid…since 3.
What can we expect from your show?
Chris Dave: LOTS of energy. Surprise guests and a music combination of all styles.
Do you do tricks?
Chris Dave: Like twirling drumsticks?
Yes.
Chris Dave: Nah, I think that’s whack! People who come to my shows think everything I do is a trick because my hands are so fast…it’s like a human drum machine.
